Upon finding petroleum impacted and chlorinated soil and ground water across the site, as well as asbestos containing materials in existing buildings, GRI successfully obtained a Brownfields designation for the site. GRI's initiative effectively propelled a largely contaminated property towards rehabilitation.
This site is comprised of 31.60 acres that were historically residential, commercial or undeveloped properties. During due diligence, Geological Resources, Inc. (GRI) identified petroleum impacted and chlorinated soil and ground water across the site and asbestos containing materials in existing buildings.
Once the client elected to purchase the property for redevelopment into a retail shopping complex, GRI successfully pursued and obtained a Brownfields designation for the site in less than 8 months.
GRI developed an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) to use during construction activities to comply with Brownfields restrictions.
Currently the property is under construction. GRI collects ground water and soil samples as necessary to allow construction activities to proceed without delay.
